Verbo "to love" ("amar" en inglés)

"Love" significa "amar" en español y es uno de los verbos más usados del inglés. Es un "stative verb", es decir, un verbo que describe un estado de animo o una forma de ser. Este tipo de verbos no tienen gerundio, es decir, no acaban en "-ing". Quizá hayas escuchado que dice "I'm loving...", gramaticalmente es incorrecto, pero se ha puesto de moda. Como las reglas del lenguaje se crean a partir del propio lenguaje no sabemos qué pasará con "loving" dentro de unos años.

ENUNCIADOS CON "TO LOVE"

- Present simple: 

I do notlove him anymore. (Yo ya no lo amo.)

I love to go skiing in the winter. (Amo ir a esquiar en invierno.)

- Presente perfecto simple:

Men who have loved many women don't know what true love is. (Los hombres que han amado a muchas mujeres no saben qué es el amor de verdad.)

I have never been to China, but I would love to. (Nunca he ido a China, pero me encantaría.)

- Past simple:

She loved to play tennis, but now she finds it boring. (Ella amaba jugar tenis, pero ahora lo encuentra aburrido.)

Tania and Mike loved to be part of the tennis team, but when they moved to San Francisco they had to stop quit. (A Tania y a Mike les encantaba ser parte del equipo de tennis, pero cuando se fueron a San Francisco tuvieron que dejarlo.)

- Past perfect simple:

If I hadn't loved him I would have never have known what love is. (Si yo no lo hubiese amado yo nunca habría sabido qué es el amor.)

I had loved being their friend until they started hanging out with the wrong people and became like them. (Me había encantado ser su amigo hasta que empezaron a convivir con las personas equivocadas y se volvieron como ellos.)

- Future simple:

They will love this party, I'm sure of it. (ellos amarán esta fiesta, estoy seguro de eso.)

They are going to love their new home when they see it, I'm sure. (Van a amar su casa nueva cuando la vean, estoy segura de eso.)

- Future perfect simple:

That girl will have loved traveling to all those beautiful places once she comes back from her honeymoon. (Esa niña habrá amado haber viajado a todos esos hermosos lugares una vez haya vuelto de su luna de miel.)

When I am old, I will have loved and lived all that I wish to. (Cuando sea vieja habré amado y vivido todo lo que deseo.)
